Madhumita heads the ijustice initiative as the Principal Advisor. She is responsible for guiding research, networking with professionals and organisations and developing the core team.
Madhumita has over 25 years of experience working on regulatory issues and is interested in legal research and analysis of law and policy.
Madhumita is Senior Consultant with a Delhi based law firm Lexport [www.lexport.in]. She advises a range of corporate clients on a variety of regulatory issues.
Madhumita began her career with the Indian government where her work involved employment regulations concerning public servants and anti-corruption law and policies. Madhumita has also been a legal consultant with non-governmental and international organisations in the areas of transparency, anti-corruption and rule of law. She has been lead researcher for India for Global Integrity’s Reports on anti-corruption law and practice [www.globalintegrity.org/] and has contributed to the World Bank’s Public Accountability Mechanism Initiative [www.agidata.org]. She has been associated with the Property Rights project of the Liberty Institute, New Delhi [www.indefenceofliberty.org] and has researched on title guarantees and title insurance for property owners in India.
Madhumita has a Master's degree in Law from the Washington College of Law, American University, USA, Bachelor's Degree in Law from the Faculty of Law, University of Delhi and Master's and Bachelor's Degrees in English from the University of Madras. Madhumita is a Member of the Bar Council of Delhi.
